           My name is Chris Horton and I know that I am the Knicks’ Ultimate Fan for many different reasons.  Being a Knick fan has been something that I’ve done individually and with my family throughout my entire life.  I’m a 32 year-old ELA Teacher/Modified Boys Basketball coach that resides in Newburgh, New York.          

           It all started in the womb for me.  My mother was actually six months pregnant with me when she was at the Garden for a special event (this was my first time at the Garden).  My mother was at the garden with my older sister Joan to receive an award for winning the third annual Manufactures Hanover Trust Shootout in March of 1976.  Walt Frazier presented my sister with the award, but my mother didn’t make it down to the court because she was pregnant with me.  My mother, Joan Horton, was crushed to miss the opportunity to meet Walt.  Walt is one of our heroes.  She too is going to enter the Ultimate Fan Contest; Mom is a strong candidate for the Ultimate Fan. 

           All growing up I was taught, mostly by my mother, to love the Knicks through the good times and the tough times.  My family conversations ranged from stories of DeBusschere, Reed, Frazier, Ewing, Oakley, and Starks to the current collection of hard working Knicks.  This was household conversation because all of my family members played and coached basketball. 

           I currently hold a mini-plan that includes eight games.  This was an amazing gift from my loving girlfriend.  I’ve had an amazing experience at each of the games this year and I can’t wait to go to my next game on February 27th. 

           I mentioned earlier that I am an ELA teacher.  Each year my students and I write friendly letters to celebrities and we ask questions in addition to asking for fan support in return.  Each year, you guessed it, I write to the Knicks.  I wrote to Isaiah Thomas a few years ago and he kindly wrote me a letter and included an autographed picture.  This year I wrote a letter to Coach D’Antoni and I’m still eagerly waiting for a response.  Trust me, I am the Ultimate Knicks’ fan and I will continue to support the team for my lifetime.  I always support the team though the good and the bad.  Enjoying the Knicks goes way beyond the thrill of wins and competitive games.  It has been something that keeps my family together because we watch, talk about, and go to the games together.  I plan to continue this tradition with all members of my family for life.  Go Knicks!

      Remember with the knicks new up tempo style players are going to need time to get weight down and stamina up for the run and gun offense so the big guys will be only seeing 28- 35 minutes a game (if that).
